Send materials to: Please apply by going to the following website: St. Cloud, MN 56301 Contact: Rosemary Williams Department of Art Email: ...@stcloudstate.edu Phone: 320.###.#### Responsibilities: Description: The Art Department at St. Cloud State University seeks an individual to teach a full range of undergraduate art history courses in all degree programs, including a newly redesigned art history major focused on global art.The tenure-track position is in a department that serves 350-400 studio art, graphic design, art education and art history students along with general education students. The department has a strong commitment to interdisciplinary contemporary art practice. St. Cloud State University is a comprehensive university of approximately 15000 students and is an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. The Art Department is part of a newly formed School of the Arts.The Kiehle Visual Arts Center sits on the banks of the Mississippi River, sixty miles north of the Twin Cities metropolitan area, home to the Walker Art Center, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and a variety of art centers and exhibition spaces. Filling of vacancies at SCSU are contingent on university budgets and funding. Responsibilities: Teach 12 credits per semester. Specific courses include Art Appreciation, Art History Survey II, International Modernisms, Theories, Contemporary Art and a Topics course. Must also be willing to teach Survey I, depending on department need. This faculty member will supervise and work with undergraduate teaching assistants and develop and administer an internship program for art history majors. The successful candidate will also be effective in working with art history majors who seek careers as gallery directors, curators, or arts administrators and with studio majors, who constitute a strong majority of students. In order to be considered for tenure, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to:1) teach and/or perform assignment effectively; 2) conduct scholarly achievement or research; 3) continue preparation and study in discipline; 4) contribute to student growth and development; and 5) provide service to the university and community. Minimum Qualifications: * PhD or terminal degree in art history or related field such as visual/cultural studies or curatorial studies required by date of appointment. * Dissertation field and primary research interest must be in contemporary art. * Experience teaching at the college level, including teaching assistantships. * Evidence of demonstrated ability to teach and work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds.
