Candidate will teach courses including: Beginning Digital Film/Video Production, The Art of Film (an introductory aesthetics course of 95 students), and special topics courses (of which past examples include Cinematography, Experimental Filmmaking, and Cameraless Filmmaking). St. Cloud State University is a comprehensive university of approximately 18,000 students (headcount). The Department of Theatre and Film Studies is a member of a newly formed School of the Arts and is part of an established and diversifying arts scene in central Minnesota. Vacancies at SCSU are contingent on university budgets and funding. Responsibilities: * Candidate will integrate into courses a strong pedagogical vision that recognizes film production as a key component of our film studies curriculum and supervise production lab, budget, and student workers. In order to be considered for tenure, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to: 1) teach and/or perform assignment effectively; 2) conduct scholarly achievement or research; 3) continue preparation and study in discipline; 4) contribute to student growth and development; and 5) provide service to the university and community. (IFO Article 22, Section B) Minimum Qualifications: * MFA in Film or moving image-related discipline (with equivalent terminal degree). * Training in Film History, Theory, and Criticism. * Experience with traditional filmmaking and new and integrated media (such as performance, digital film, multi-media creation, etc.). * Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration between film and other arts and media curricula. * Demonstrated ability to teach and work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications: * Demonstrated ability to teach effectively at the college level. * A record of juried film exhibition or festival participation. * Demonstrated experience in articulating a long-range vision for a growing film production program and collaborating in its realization and delivery.
