Position SummaryThis position is part of an innovative project to provide early literacy support to children in Licensed Family Child Care settings. This position travels to Licensed Family Child Care sites to provide a 1.5:2 hour Reading Corps A?mini:preschoolA? session to build childrenA?s early language and literacy skills in preparation for Kindergarten. The tutor will visit two providers per day, primarily morning hours. The primary beneficiary of this position is the child. This is an AmeriCorps service member position with the AmeriCorps program, Minnesota Reading Corps.Essential FunctionsEarly Literacy Instruction and AssessmentA: Provide intentional, meaningful, and fun literacy instruction during all parts of the day to improve the early literacy skills of children ages 3 : 5, specifically focusing on the A?Big Five Emergent Literacy SkillsA? that give children the opportunity to talk, read, write and play every day; deliver adapted strategies for infants and toddlers.A: Implement elements of the Literacy and Math Rich Schedule, including greeting children, helping children write their name at sign:in, having A?Strive for 5A? conversations, writing a daily message, conducting a Repeated Read Aloud, journaling, leading one:on:one and/or small group targeted interventions daily for at:risk children, and leading A?Big 5A? transitions.A: Provide targeted early literacy support to children daily in a one:on:one and/or small group setting using scripted early literacy interventions; achieve a high degree of fidelity to the scripted interventions.A: Assess, with high level of accuracy, child outcomes and progress using tri:annual benchmark assessments and ongoing progress monitoring assessments. A: Identify students who qualify for targeted one:on:one and/or small group Minnesota Reading Corps tutoring services based on assessment data and direction from a Family Child Care Coach.A: Record student and program data completely and accurately in an online database on a weekly basis; maintain confidentiality of all student data.A: Participate in on:site coaching sessions (includes observation of tutor) two times per month to review student progress, plan, problem:solve and set goals; act on constructive feedback from coaching sessions.A: Prepare materials and lessons for effective delivery of daily essential elements of the Reading Corps Lesson Plans for Family Child Care.Early Literacy Resource to Licensed Family Child Care ProviderServe as an early literacy resource to the Licensed Family Child Care Provider to support high:quality programming for children in their care. This includes, but is not limited to:A: Ongoing collaboration with each assigned Provider. A: Developing a relationship of respect and trust, particularly understanding the unique role and challenges faced by Licensed Family Child Care Providers.A: Supporting the creation and implementation of a Literacy and Math Rich Schedule to provide daily structure that incorporates evidenced:based rituals and routines for each Provider.A: Supporting the ProviderA?s implementation of the Reading Corps Lesson Plans for Family Child Care.A: Modeling delivery of targeted interventions and evidence:based strategies.Family EngagementA: Collaborate with Coach and Licensed Family Child Care provider to plan, prepare, and facilitate family nights with each site.A: Implement family engagement strategies during the year as children transition and prepare for Kindergarten, including implementing the Minnesota Reading Corps family intervention A?Talk, Read and Write with MeA? .A: Develop a Kindergarten Student Portfolio for each municationA: Communicate and interact with students in an age and developmentally appropriate way.A: Act on constructive feedback provided by Coaches and Program Staff.
